The Mountain Children’s Foundation (MCF) works to help children become agents for change and development in their communities. MCF has worked in the mountain state of Uttarakhand since 2002. Our unique approach seeks to invert the top-down, outside-in model of traditional development activities.
Objective
To empower children through knowledge, training, and the power of collective action, to change their communities from the ground up.
The idealism and energy of young people is the best antidote for the forces of marginalization, corruption, helplessness and apathy, under which most rural communities struggle to exist. We seek to tap that energy and idealism to create a better world for the children and all around them.
It is nothing less than a revolution in how the people—especially the young people—of the mountains perceive themselves and how they address problems in their communities.
Our Aim
To change the way the world perceives and works with children.
